Careers in Energy Week

Careers in Energy Week

October is a month of celebrating for electric cooperatives! First of all, it is Cooperative month and then during October 17-21 we recognize Careers in Energy Week. Growing up, I never imagined I would work in the energy industry. I incorrectly assumed that the only careers in the energy industry were for electricians, engineers or powerline technicians. I didn’t realize that electric cooperatives employ 76,000 people across the United States and offer 130 different career opportunities!

Lucky for me, I was hired on at a local electric cooperative and my eyes were opened to a whole new and exciting industry. The energy industry is constantly changing due to new technologies, government regulations, and consumer needs. Over the next five years, America’s electric cooperatives will hire 15,000 people. Now is the perfect time to start your career in energy! Here is a list of possible career paths offered by electric cooperatives.

  • Accounting
  • Administrative Assistants
  • Communications
  • Economic Development
  • Electrical Technicians
  • Engineering
  • HR
  • IT
  • Management
  • Member Services Representatives
  • Powerline technicians
  • and many more!

During National Careers in Energy Week, we invite you to research energy careers and hope you will join us in the exciting and ever changing energy industry!
